One of the best IUAV class that fascinated me was the last one leaded by Enrico Camplani. Main purpose: design an illustrative book, taken by “myfavouritecolours” book series.
During the course I learnt the strict rules of typography and how to overstep them. After the first exercise that consisted in formatting a multilingual glossary (Italian, English and Chinese), we had to find a narrative text or romance (that could communicate a colour sensation), create a new page layout for it with choosing a proper font type, adding photos and/or creating new visuals. I chose blue and with it a novel part of “The old and the sea” (E. Hemingway). You can see it also here.
The last part of the exercise was to make a cover layout for the new personal version of the romance and for other two classmate versions (above Neve of Maxence Fermine and Tropico del Cancro of Henry Miller).
